Lee 310 .44 mag mould
« on: August 22, 2006, 05:32:01 AM »
I just wanted to share my experience with this mould.

I got a chance to cast up some bullets this past weekend.  The first time I used the Lee mould was last fall and was dissappointed that the bullets were 'out of round'.  I thought that I might be droping them too soon and not letting them cool enough.  This time, I made sure that I let the block cool a bit longer and even droped the bullets into a 5-gallon bucket of water.  Still the bullets were seriously out of round.  I'm talking .428 on one axis  to .433 on the other.  My sizing die almost flattens the crip groove completely on the 'fat' sides.

Has anyone experience this with these moulds?

I love the bullet design but and very disappointed with the final product.

If you're sure it's not caused by your technique, that kind of defect is unacceptable, send it back to Lee for replacement.
