no lawyer talk....is it safe to shoot my hornet or 357 mag barrel on my SB1 frame while my SB2 is gone to be fitted for a 7.62x39 barrel.

You know the answer to this question. So why ask it here. Its a no,no.

If you don't believe it, then tie the rifle to a tire and fire it with a string from a distance. Then you know for sure whether your frame has stretched or not.

Lots do, but to say it's safe on yours is another matter. FWIW, both of those calibers were sold in the old H&R rifles which were all SB1 frames and the late model SB1 frames are much stronger than the original  frames were. I'm shooting a hornet barrel with max loads on a '91 Pardner frame, about 150 rounds so far and it's still one of most accurate Handis I own.

My thought process was the low pressures(20K and 36K) and the small diameter of both of these rounds. I don't shoot max loads, only lead in the 357 and only about 1600 FPS in the hornet.  It doesn't calculate out to much pressure per square inch.

Just like Quick said, the original Topper Rifles were built on the same frames as the shotguns of the period, and BOTH of those calibers were in the lineup of offerings at the time, as were the .30-30 and .45-70.

I don't think you'd want to mount one of Tim's or Mac's .338-06 barrels on it though!
