Will be getting a Sportco Model 44 (Australian)

Hi All,

     Just arranged a trade for this Aussie Sportco Model 44 single shot bolt action. I believe it's what they used for stuff like the Palma matches and is chambered for the 7.62x51 cartridge. Bolt is a 60 degree lift as it has 3 lugs and it has aperture (Target) sights.

     This one is unaltered so does not have a rail for a handstop inletted under the fore stock as a lot do. Be interesting to see just how it performs at the range when I eventually get it. Waiting for licence to be re-newed  :roll:

Pictures will be forth-coming once I get the licence sorted out  :roll:  and collect the rifle. Chris the dealer who has it lives about 130 miles away and my licence is being renewed right now and they don't seem in any all fire hurry to proccess it    I will als have photos of a very nice clean BSA Monarch in .270 once all this is done as he is holding one of these I brought off someone ( a walk in) at the last Bisley show I attended. This one still has it's folding rear sight on the barrel and even the fore sight hood  :shock:  which have normally dissappeared in the 40 odd years since it was made.

   Back to the Sportco,

       It a small possibilty that I ma get to try it out at Kynamcos' 100 yard tunel range as that's located about half way bewteen us and we are thinking about booking it fro an hour or so but that depends on how things work out time wise.
