1X for 44 mag super
« on: March 30, 2003, 07:28:34 AM »
I want a quality 1X scope for my 44 mag.  It is difficult to find many to choose from.  Any suggestions or have any of you folks have a 1x that will hold up to the 44 mag recoil.

Go with the Leupold 2x--it is really only about 1.5 power.
The first shot is the best shot, it may be your only shot!  Do it with a single-shot.

Same with the Burris 2x - I have one with the heavy plex reticle - works great on a 10" 44 mag TC.

Go with a 2x Leupold- it is the best choose. I have one on a 44 Mag. and one on a 445 Super Mag.

i'll second the burris 2x. my 44 redhawk has never seen a light load. keep her wide open all the time. the 2x burris has rode on top for most every shot.
a 2x leupold would be just as good, maybe :?

Once had a Burris 1X and loved it.  Only problem was it had fine(and I do mean fine) cross hairs that just dissappeared in the woods.  Traded it off w/ a barrel.  Now wish I had kept it and got Burris to put the plex hairs in it.  Not only is it a big clear view, but eye relief is whatever you want it to be.  Sorry to say I don't think they make it anymore.  Only thing I'm aware of in 1X now is red dots.  GOOD SHOOTIN',  Walt   :D

I've owned both a Leupold 2X and a 4X pistol scope and they are fine scopes without a doubt.  BUT, the Nikon 2X is superior to the Leupold in brightness and field of view, so now I have two of them and no Leupold pistol scopes.

Greg, I,ve always considered the LEUPOLD the best fixed power pistol scope with the BURRIS a close 2nd, but you're not the first one who has
touted the Nikon.  I think this ole f--- is going to have to get one.  Thanks.
BTW, I checked and BURRIS 1X is history.  Too bad.

Thank you all and to all who may want to reply in the future.  I have 3 leupold 2x m8 scopes and I like them but I just wanted a 1 x on the 44.  I had a very cheap 1x that I had on a Ruger Mark 2 pistol so I tried in on the 44 mg and liked it a lot.  But, on about the 50th or 60th shot the scope went to hell, cross hairs were both borken and the scopes lens were screwed up.  It would cost more in postage to send it back to the maker than the darn thing was worth.  Now I just ordered a red dot scope that has 4 different reticles and one was a red cross hair.  I hope it works.

, I think you'll like it if you liked the 1X before.  I use one some...especially
tree standing in close quarters in early am and late pm.
