Is there such a thing as a .410 slug?

I waz think'n that a .410 slug would be just the cat's meow for carrying in a .410/.45 Colt revolver.  Does anybody make such a thing and would it work?

Yes, Dusty, there is a .410 slug. Brenneke has one as well as Remington and Barnaul as well as Winchester.

Midway carries the Remington and the Winchester. Remington is 2 1/2 inch shell with a 1/5 oz slug. Winchester is a 3 inch shell with a 1/4 oz slug. Winchester also has a load available at Midway similar to the Remington load.

Now, will it work? I have no idea. Here you are on your own.

Ps. I found this article for you. http://www.highbeam.com/library/docfree.asp?DOCID=1G1:100727291&ctrlInfo=Round20%3AMode20c%3ADocG%3AResult&ao=   . Hope the link works, if not Google 410 slug ammo right here from Graybeards and you should find some info.

If it takes a 2.75" shell, there is nothing stopping you, some pistols won't take magnum 410 shells.  I've shot .410 slugs out of my shotgun, and were never quite impressed with the power (for a shotgun) but out of a pistol its a whole new ball game.  Once you try it out, tell us the results.

You have a 45 / 410 REVOLVER?
I have a single-shot darringer that I use the slug in but I have to tell you the 410 slug is a poor substitute for a 45 colt 200 grain bullet. The slug weighs 87.5 grains and only travels slightly faster than the 200 grain JHP. Slugs are just too light to be good for much unless you have a 20 inch barrel to shoot them out of - but then the Colt would still have more killing power than the slug if they were both fired from a 20 inch barrel.
