Where to buy a Freedom Arms revolver?
« on: June 04, 2006, 04:01:39 PM »
I looked on Freedom Arms website and I do not see a dealer here in Virginia.  How difficult is it to have one transferred through F.F.L. holders?  Who has the best price on a Model 83 in 41 Magnum?

My FFL was not listed either.
He said all F/A's are sold 'dealer direct', whatever that is.
I asked him to get me one and I had it in about a week and for less than I expected.
A very pleasant suprise indeed.
Talk to your local FFL.

Hammerhead,

Thank you for the response.  Did you get a field model or the premier?  I can't decide between the two, but the lack of warrranty on the field model compared to the premier makes me ask, "Why?"

Your FFL Dealer should have no trouble ordering one for you and at a discount from the MSRP.  If it were me I would go for the Premiere Grade.  If you are going the route of getting the best production revolver in the world then why not go the full route and get the best of the best.  That was how I justified it to myself.  The look and feel of a FA makes it worth every penny.  Then of course you can go the extra mile and add a few fun extra's like express sights, octogon barrel, or custom grips.

I called a local F.F.L. holder in my area and he then called Freedom Arms to price the Model 83 in 41 Magnum in the premier and field grades.  He called me back and said it would be $1900 for the premier and $1500 for the field grade.  The MSRP for the premier is $2035 and for the field $1573, is that a fair discount based on these prices?

I have 2 model 83 feild grade pistols , I paid $900 each . the first was new in the box  with fixed sights chambered in 454 and a 4 3/4 inch barrel , the second was used in excellent condition and was a 7 1/2 inch barrel 454 with a 2x7 scope . There are a few deals out there.

I bought the premier grade because that's all they make in the model 97.
I would probably go for premier if givin a choice.
Mechanicly they're the same.
You just get a little nicer finish and a no questions asked warrenty.

Thank you all for your responses.  I have checked several F.F.L. holders locally and the best I seem to be able to do is $1900 for the premier grade Model 83.  Do any of you guys know who has the best price in another state? I may explore the option of buying one out of state and having it shipped to Virginia?

Chipster,

Thank you for the head's up on the FA pistol.  I just ordered an 83 Premier grade in 41 Magnum with a 7.5" barrel, yesterday.  Hopefully I'll have it by next week.
