old 250 savage brass

some of you long time handloaders help me here. my gunsmith friend gave me a five gallon bucket of once-fired brass that he has used for testing.in this i found a couple of things i have never seen before.
1) 250 savage brass head stamped " REM-UMC 250HP"
2) 250 savage brass head stamped " 250-3000 SA CORP"
can any of you shed some light on these?

Don't know about the "SA CORP", but .250 Savage was formerly known as the Savage .250 3000 (or some such arrangement of the name & numbers).  This was to draw attention to the fact their cartridge sent the bullet screaming out of the barrel at a blistering 3,000 feet per second.  I believe the reason we have 87 grain bullets in .257 caliber is because in order to reach the coveted 3,000 fps mark, the heaviest bullet they could use was 87 grains.

The REM-UMC brass is Remington, from the days when Remington an dUnion Metallic Cartridge were one.

The SA brass is Savage Arms, when they marketted ammunition.
