Handling Fish

When you take a sunfish or any other small fish how do you do it? I have tried grabing the body by sliding over the fin but I have small hands and always seem to get poked. Any help would make fishing more enjoyable.

If it's a fish that isn't so large my hand won't fit I usually hold them by sliding my hand down the body from nose toward tail and with fingers on back holding down dorsal fin and on belly. If the fish is too large I hold it with belly or back to palm of hand and my fingers on both sides. Again IF you do this on the back slide your hand down from front to push down the dorsal fin to keep from being stuck.
