Yugoslavian 24/47 vs. Yugoslavian M48/48A
« on: June 25, 2006, 02:02:30 AM »
Aim surplus has the shooter grade Yugoslavian M48/48A surplus rifles for $79.95.  I already have 2 of the Yugoslavian 24/47's.  I don't really know anything about the M48/48A's except that they have a turned down bolt.

Would there be any advantage for me owning a M48/48A except for the fact of just having one?  Anyone have a M48/48A and care to share your opinions on them?   :-)

If you already own a 24/47 or two then an M48 would be a good addition.Get the absolute BEST condition that you can afford.
Mine is a really good shooter.

As far as I know Aim surplus only has the shooter grade.  Are they worth fooling with?

Shooter grade?

The only shooter grade M48 I have ever bought was from Southern Ohio Guns. They had a three fer and all three had dark bores but were good shooters.
I would recommend an M49 BO from Alan's Armory to guarantee the best obtainable quality.

I have a VZ-24, a CZ24/52 and an M48A.  Also have a Nazi K98 and a Husquavarna 98.  Of the 4 mil-surps I like the M48A the best.  It seems a bit lighter and handier than the slightly longer full-sized 98s and is very accurate but mine was almost nib when I got it.  It has an excellent bore although the trigger was definately something to work on (but it came out great).  The M48A is the one I like to take to the range and play with or the one I would sling if I was taking a 8mm for a walk.

I undestand that the Mitchell Mausers are M48s, and are brand spankin' new, if you want a new one (I would).

The Husquarvarna is by far the smoothest and most accurate of them all.  She is a Swedish made factory sporter and 'oh ja' baby, is she ever accurate and hard hittin'.  She is going Elk hunting with me this year.  HTH.  Mikey.
