What are you going to use on the nutria? Seems like a shotgun or a small rifle would work better. If there are neighbors close by you may not want to use a rifle. Are nutrias fur any good to sell at this time of the year? Let us know how you do. Good luck :D  :D  :D .......Joe........

Not fully understanding your question but I will go with..............I never have shot varmints with a shotgun or a (some what fix Crossman 2200).....I don't eat varmints (animals I consider varmints). So with that thought I like the "center mass" shot best with a rifle.  If you are there to kill them and you don't eat them what difference does it make whether this is a headshot or center mass.

i kill some with this gun in the past. rifles are what you want most of the time like a 22LR to kill them.
