smoothing acton on winchester 30 30 lever aaction

the action on my winchester 30 30 lever action is very tough to cycle. can this be smoothed out ? by how much? what would it cost? can i do it myself?

I really can't say if you can do it or not but it certainly can be done. Some models are easier than others but all can be helped.. Do you have the skill to completely disassemble the piece completely, the tools(stones, fine wet-or-dry abrasive paper, etc) and the patience to do the task I can't say.
