I posted this under the Taurus section, but thought it might have more relevance here.
Well, I certainly didn't expect to get the amount of recoil out of this gun, especially being ported. This gun was left to me in my brother's will. I finally decided to shoot it yesterday. Factory Federal 210 gr ammo. I thought to myself, "this gun is ported, not my .44 mag and should be a nice little shooter/low recoil". Boy was I wrong. Had my mother been with me, I would have gone crying to her after my first shot. That thing kick like a pack mule (you know pack mules kick harder than regular mules). All kiding aside. That gun verges on uncomfortable to shoot (for me anyway, and for 50 rounds or more). I went ahead and shot 50 rounds through it and put it away. My 9mm felt like a .22 after that gun.
Anyway, I origionally thought I would use this Taurus Titanium in place of my Ruger Redhaw in .44 mag should I try my luck at hangun hunting this year. I will stick to the Redhawk. Not that I didn't like this gun. It fit my hand well and was very accurate (I love those "shoot N' see" targets).
I guess there is a lot to say about a gun's weight for recoil reduction VS. porting (in this case anyway). I thought porting would have more than compensated for it's light weight.
