Hi cap .22 auto's
« on: August 02, 2006, 07:55:31 AM »
Are there any .22 autos that come with a hi cap mag?  Preferably with a 6in barrel and from a good manufacturer.

I am not requesting anything crazy, just 13-15 rounds.

Is 10 the limit?

Most hi cap magazines are built for rimless cases.  This allows for double stacking.  My guess is that this would be hard with a rimmed case.  Having said that I know hi cap magazines are made for 10/22s.  It would take a large pistol to handle one of those bulky things.

Thanks,

I did not realize that the design of the cartridge limited the magazines capacity.  I thought there was some law or something.

I have a S&W 622, and I want to upgrade.  Most likely to a Buckmark or a MKII but I was looking for something with a few more rounds.  I always feel shortchanged when I switch from my Sig to my Smith.

There is a chopped down Ruger 10/22 pistol out there that takes standard 10/22 mags... I've seen it in the Shotgun News and in a few gun magazines, I'm pretty sure it's a custom deal, but it's uglier than all get out if you ask me! IIRC it looks like a 10/22 receiver with a pistol grip and a 4" bull barrel..................  :'(

you can still find used grendel pistols. they are a plastic framed semi auto in 22 mag with a 30 round mag. despite all those shots, its still a pretty small package. guys on my action pistol league back in the day, would shoot them in minor class. and i remember them being pretty reliable, and fairly accurate. i have seen the chopped down versions of the 10-22 and they are much bigger and blockier than the grendle. and the same goes for the calico, which i think holds 50 or 100 rounds. good luck
