C.Sharps 1875

I don't see much about the 1875 model C.Sharps. I've run several searches on some of the boards. Any of you guys have experience with one? Any avantages/disadvantages to these actions compared to 1874's or hi-walls? Just curious.       Thanks.

They're a very well built gun, and the small short throw hammer makes for quick lock times. Extremely well fitted metal to wood areas, and like all C Sharps top quality. Very accurate on the two I shot.
 The only thing I could find I didn't like about them was the case colors. Just my personal preference, but their colors are way too bluish for my tastes.

hey marlinman i no wot you mean about the color case being to blue,i have a old model 155 h&r shikari that had very dark blue color case i toned it down by degreasing the action then gave it a wipe with a cloth wet with laurel mountain forge barrel brown & degreaser it came out looking a really nice  rustic affect.

I have a C. Sharps 75' Hunter.  It has beautiful wood buckhorn sights and a tang sight which I added.  It is currently chambered in 45-90 after I had the chamber reamed from 45-70.  It is a great rifle!  I shoot 70's and 90's in it interchangably with almost no change in point of impact.  It truly is one of the most fun rifles I have ever had and worth every penny I paid.

IMHO they are waaay superior to Pedersoli and the other Italian imports.

I bought mine new in 1995 and still love it. I belive they used Dougles barrels then and have switched to Badger. Mine is a 45-70 with a 28"
full octogan at 9#.
 Two of my nephews have 75's , one a 26' saddle rifle in 45-70, the other a 45-120 with a 32" HEAVY BARREL ( with his loads the weight is nice) .
 All are top quality with crisp triggers and can be had at a better price most of the time.

 I have had two friends with 1875 C Sharps rifles. One was a .32-40, the other a .38-55 cal. I have shot bpth a lot, and both are more accurate than I could ever ask for!

I have one, it's the 26" saddle rifle in 45-70. It would be one of the very last to go if forced to get rid of my guns. The trigger on mine could be better. It is crisp but a little heavy for my taste.
