Need a noise load
« on: July 03, 2006, 06:47:37 AM »
for my golf ball mortar for tommorow.
I have the base finished enough for shooting blank loads. What I need is a recommended load for the most noise I can get out of it.
It has a 1x1 powder chamber. I have 3f  (11 lbs) and cannon grade (3lbs) Goez powder in stock.
Also which way is better for loading the powder, loose or in aluminum foil?
I may not be completely sane, but at least I don't think I have the power to influence the weather.

Golf ball mortars don't make much noise. Here is the best you can hope for.

You're going to have to do a lot of hoping to get that much noise.  Depending on the construction of your mortar, a shot heavier than a golf ball would provide more sound.  But we don't want to make a grenade out of your mortar barrel, either.
