Blaser S-2 in 470 NITRO Express
« on: October 17, 2005, 08:53:41 AM »
All,

Just ordered my new Blaser Riffle, it should be here this weekend. I will post pictures when I get it. This is the 2nd gun from them, the first being a K-95 single shot breakopen in 300 win mag. Looking forward to more double riffles and a drilling or two. I am looking for a merkel if anyone happens to have one for sale.

Hey army,

I'm looking foreward to seeing those picts.!!!  Hopefully we will see some picts. from the targets too, you are going to shoot it aren't you????

I had a friend that bought the famous African hunter "Taylor", the double rifle he hunted with.  I forget what it was chambered for, maybe 500-450???  Anyway, i never saw him fire it all the time i knew him.  (he said he had though) He had full documation that it WAS the rifle Taylor carried for many years.  When he studied the history of Taylor he found out some things he didn't like, he even found some of Taylors realitives and called them.  The story goes the fam had kinda disowned Taylor waaaay back...

He did have a fantastic "veerling" though!!!  Man, it was the finest one i ever saw weighing in at 6-3/4 pounds!!!  It wasn't perfect though, (as a user) as the 8mm bore was .318" instead of .323".   Also it was chambered for 22 veerling, not one of my favorites...

He did hunt with his veerling though and really liked it...

  Congrats on the new rifle!!

Drilling Man,

I just got my first box of ammo, whoa is that a big round. I thought my 416 was big until I got these pills in. I do plan on shooting this, I might try killing a hog first (cause that is cheap and easy), then on to water buff and then my Africa hunt for Cape. This gun has a built in simms pad and another mechanism called kickstop, hopefully they will make it manageable. I will post pictures of the bullets as soon as I figure out how on this message board. More to follow.....

Ammo cost were 200 a box from cabelas. I recently found a a guy who will load them for me at 150 a box for the Barnes X bullets. Ten bucks a shot ain't bad, hey it is kinda like going to Starbucks!

Dangit!!  Those things are expensive!!!!!

I'm afraid if it was mine, it wouldn't get shot a lot at those prices!  Of course if it was mine, i'd have a mould made to match the origional bullet design, and then i'd be makeing hard cast bullets to practice with!

Once you have some brass, i'm sure it's the price of the actual bullet that drives the cost up!!
