hi  everyone!!
i want to get into the sport of cannnons, but have very little knowledge of how to purchase one. i do have a lot of experience with firearms and black powder shooting, although i do realize there is a big differance in firing cannons compared to firearms. i need your help in locating a good cannon. which companies make a good cannon at a affordable price? i found a web site for cannon ltd. these seem really nice, but once again i don't know whats good. i really like civil war era cannons. i like the parrott guns in full size, i do want a cannon in full size. any help from you all would be great!! also, i am willing to do some work to complete the cannon, but cannot spend the time to build a cannon from the ground up. i own a lot of property and have access to thousands of acres of rural property and plan on doing some extreme long range shooting. what cannon type is best for me?

WELCOME to the board!

Some broad questions that only you can answer - which is best, affordable etc.

Get in touch with some folks that are DOING IT!  You'll find there is one flavor or another that really turns you on.  Then start looking and comparing.

Where's home?  Is there a group or club nearby?  (Like N-SSA or AAA).
THere may be some folks within electronic earshot here withwhom y'all could get together with.

Start small - try golf-ball caliber first.  Affordable, reasonable range (100-200 yards) cheap to shoot and easy to find ammo.

I started by making a beer-can caliber mortar.  Easy to make, above reasons too.
