Dear Saxman:
The deadliest and most relentless trout fisherman I've ever seen used a 4 1/2 foot spinning rig and salmon eggs. Ocassionly worms, and rarely, minneys. In times past he used a fly rod, but that was before spinning was really popular, or indeed common. This guy knew!
Sadly, you say? Not really. You're fishing, ain't ya? Tell ya what, I'd loan you a fly reel, you'd put it on your spinnin rod, and you'd be fine! Roll casting would keep you out of the brush, and you'd have another weapon in your arsonal.
Besides, trout fishermen are a different breed. Some of them wander about late into the night, uttering strange crys! Woodbutcher
