CAN YOU PUT A 500 SMITH ON A MARTINI CADET RIFLE
« on: September 21, 2006, 04:31:39 PM »
I AM WANTING TO KNOW IF YOU CAN PUT A  500 SMITH AND WESSON CALIBER IN THE SMALLER MARTINI ACTION. I HAVE ONE THAT I WAS GOING TO DO A SPEACIAL PROJECT ON AND MY FATHER DECIDED HE WANTED MY 788 IN 44 REMINGTON INSTEAD. I NOW HAVE THIS ACTION WITH THE ORIGINAL STOCKS TO DO SOMETHNG WITH.  I AM THINKING AN OCTAGONAL BARREL WITH A IRON SIGHTS IN 500 SMITH. IF I CANT DO THAT I WILL SELL THE ACTION.  MY CONCERN IS WEATHER OR NOT THE ACTION WILL BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE PRESSURE FROM THE 500 SMITH.

I concur on the "NO". The barrel shank is absolutely too small for the .500 S&W. Most people think that even the .41 Magnum is too large. If you decide to sell let me know. I would be interested
