Bad Ammo

Got a box of Remington .22 Long Rifle Brass-plated Hollow Point ammo.  The big box, 525 Golden Bullet Value Pack.  Well every 4th or 5th round fails to fire.  At first we were shooting a S&W pistol, thought it was the pistol, and put it away.  Went to an old import revolver of the wifes, same thing, begin to suspect the ammo.  Went to my old Remington Nylon-66, it never fails, same thing every 4th to 5th round failed to fire. Unable to find a lot number on this box.  This could be desastirous, could cause me to get into trouble and miss one of these man eating vicious Alaskian Red Squrrills.  You know the ones that like to rip the insulation out of your engine compartment on your diesel pickups.  At least it was not a problem with any of the guns.

its that $12 stuff right? get used to it then thats how it's always been for me with the Winchester (white box) or federal Spitfire(red/orange box in 50 round boxes not loose) and Remington, I too had a Nylon 66 and it couldn't even cycle when it did fire.
The loose packed Federal 525rnd pack(blue box) at Wal-mart is one exception, i could fire my Nylon as fast i could pull the trigger without a single foul up.

I never have problems with the Federal Bulk Pak. Also from Wal-Mart. Consistently reliable in all my .22's.

The Federal Bulk Pack is my choice of "Bulk" out there, only my 10/22 hates them. Every other 22 I own or have owned have shot them very very well.
 I find them the most consistant "Bulk" out of the big 3, Winchester, Remington, and Federal.
Me and my bro, sometimes prune the trees by the river with our 22's. Works well for me 8)

Sourdough old buddy, I suggest you have that box of ammo in your hand and then call Remington direct (a toll free numbet should be available on thier website), explain the problem carefully and politely and since it is difficult and costly to ship ammo (properly/legally) ask they send you a coupon for another box or 2 of ammo to make up for thier shoddy product. If they want the old ammo back ask they either pay for the shipping or send you a "call tag" for it. Perhaps after explaining the problem you have encountered you might see what they offer as a way of compensation BEFORE asking for the coupon, then if they make no offer of compensation ask for either my suggestion or something you feel proper. Also, if you do make the call please let us all know if they stood behind thier product or if they refused to make good on thier mistake....I would be interested in thier response since I only like to do business with a company that stands behind thier product......Thanks and good luck....<><.... :)

Don't be surprised if you get some arab that can't talk English well enough to understand. That's what happened to me after I sent FIVE letters without reply about a 30 cal 180gr Core Lokt blowing up on the ribs of a cow elk at TWO hundred yards standing shot.

Finally got a reply and all they had to say was "yes, we've heard of that happening in handloads, please change over to our factory Ultra Core Lokt ammunition----!"

I did 'em a whole lot better, changed to Sierra's 200gr instead. I wouldn't shoot factory ammo if it meant giving up hunting in centerfire's.

Just my bucks worth.

Sordough, how is the bad .22 ammo story going? Did you get in touch with Remington and did they do anything about thier defective product?....<><....  :)

Ive bought 4 box's of the federal champion(50 count) and probably half were duds or so underpowered I could actually watch them striking the target and wouldent cycle the action of my model 60. Horrible stuff. Two were from different lots as well.
