Cheap jacketed .44 Mag projectiles???
« on: August 02, 2012, 03:23:18 PM »
Hello, I own one of the original Ruger .44 mag carbines.  I reload and cast, so I'm looking for the cheapest jacketed projectile for .44 mag... just for paperpunching! It is not advisable to use lead cast bullets because the gas port can get plugged.  Can't afford to shoot alot of Remington or Winchester bullets.  Any Ideas?
Thanks

Yes, learn the maintenance and cleaning procedure for the gas system, and shoot cast.  The cast might not even cause any problems at all.  I know a guy that shoots cast in a Desert Eagle.

Jacketed .429s are expensive, but sometimes you can find a bargan on gunbroker.com when someone is just cleaning out their old stores.

You can buy Rainier plated bullets for as low as fifteen cents if you buy in quantity.

I agree with the XTP's. Best price and best jacketed pistol bullet out there IMHO.

I order some of the plated .357 yesterday.  My first order from them, so can't recommend, but prices are good and supposed to be able to push their plated bullets to 1500 FPS.

Those Xtreme plated look good.  Only twelve cents a bullet with free shipping, and you only have to buy five hundred to get that price.  Tough to beat without pouring your own.

Try berry bullets ( I think that is the name) they have a copper wash not as thick as a jacket but good enough for what you want. There are other copper washed bullets also.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Of the plated bullets recommended, I've had the best accuracy with the Xtreme.  They also have the thickest plating.
