Wolf differences. Coyote-Brush wolf
« on: July 29, 2006, 09:22:06 PM »
I have seen animals the size of a black lab. Some have called these brush wolves. Are they coyotes? They are not timber wolves as I have seen them and they are bigger. I live in east central Minnesota.

A coyote is also known as a brush wolf in some areas out west. Winter coyotes do look larger then what they really are, you skin one out and it looks more like a Grayhound.

I Agree with Onecoyote, The Brush Wolf is nothing but a Coyote. I have worked in the Minnesota area and have heard the term often used but they are coyotes. In the winter time they look like they should weigh a bunch but when you skin one a little skinney Yote comes out. It seems like the folks in ND, Minn, Wi, Mi have a tendency to call them Brush Wolves. A good question and understandable why one would ask. Have a good day Sir  :)......Joe..........
