For all of you Minnesota and Wisconsin bear hunters...
« on: July 19, 2006, 08:28:39 AM »
Looks like all this lack of rain might add up to a fantastic baiting and hunting season!  I live 1 hour north of Minneapolis/St. Paul, and it's super dry in the woods (and has been all summer).  Might be a two-bear year for the "no-quota" hunters here.

I was under the impression that there might be tags still available even in the lottery areas due to the desire of the dnr to move some bears.  I could be dead wrong, though.  I just talked to some other bear hunters.  They report that the berries are already drying out, the corn is doing very poorly, and there are no acorns.  I can't wait!

I live an hour north of Mpls/St.Paul also. I was offered to hunt bear at a friends property in Kanabec county. Now I have to learn about it as I have never done it. I have always wanted to, just never had the chance. I am sure my 8x57 or Mosin-Nagant are up to the challenge.

USMC0332,

I hunt 8 miles north of Mora in Kanabec County.  Good bear population there.  The best of luck to you!

I live in Braham, but I spent age 14 on up through my high school years in Mora.  Goodness sakes, it's hot today!!
