Looks like a nice pup, some field line. Maybe "Burnt Creek"? If it is, it will stay fairly small, be very biddable and quick. I've worked with a few "Burnt Creek" dogs and were I to get a setter, thats my first choice. Next would be "Grouse Ridge". "Grouse Ridge" dogs are a bit leggy'er and although fast, aren't quite as quick. Nice dogs, both lines. I guess you know they are Lewellyn strain. Lavericks are pretty much show dogs.
Gotta tell ya, people are going to give you all kinds of advice on keeping burs out of that long hair. I never found anything that works! One guy told me to spray "Pam" in the hair befor turning his dog loose. What I ended up with was a gooy mess of "Pam", dirt and burrs! The burrs still needed picked out! I think your in Wisconsin? Maybe you won't have the trouble with burrs there we have out here. Another thing about long hair, watch the ears inside. Don't let the hair get to long there as it may well keep air out of the ear leading to really bad smell and infection. Get the pup used to trimming now. Also keep the hair trimmed out of his toes and foot pads. Down there the long hair grabs junk and you end up watching him stop and pull things put of his feet that are annoying him.
