Remington XP100 or Weatherby CFP

Anyone out there with experience in either one of these handguns. I have an opportunity to buy a Remington XP100 in 221 fireball at a local gunshop. I've seen the Weatherby's in 22-250 on some internet gun sites and wondered how they compare.

 I have an XP 7br and a Wichita 7IHMSA.the wichita is a much better gun than the XP. The weatherby is a cadillac compared to the others. The one I shot years ago at a Sillywet match was a fantastic firearm. Much better trigger than the Remington. Almost as good as my Canjar Light pull on the wichita. The factory stock "FELT" better on the weatherby.

From what I have seen I like the Weatherby better but I haven't actually had one in my hands. And of course as you might expect it is more expensive than the Remington. Plus there are more options available with the 22-250 round. Your comment on the trigger is a clincher.

Do you plan on shooting both of these in their current factory condition or do you have thoughts of customizing them?
The Fireball should be a center-grip while the Weatherby is a rear-grip.
It depends on what you want and the uses you have for them. 
I would much rather have a XP (center-grip action/single-shot) action any day if I was going to customize it over the Weatherby.
If you intend to use it in it's factory state then the Weatherby may be the best choice for you if you prefer a rear-grip design.
I have several tricked XP's and they do quite well (Yup, I'm prejudiced ).

Thanks for your insights on the grip. I've never had a bolt action handgun before and had not considered this aspect. As to customization I can't say at this time. For the moment I intend to shoot as is. I stopped and looked at the XP again on my way home from the office. It's calling out to me begging for a home. It's just a matter of time before I cave in. Probably sooner than later.

Since the action of the XP is a 700 you can get triggers after-market. I think if it fits you well you will be pleased with it. Many a target rifle has been built from the XP action becaust there is no cut-out for a magazine. That makes the action stiffer than a standard rifle action.

Actually, the action on the original XP's was from the model 600/660, the modern XP's is from the Model 7.  If you get a center grip it's fairly difficult to adjust the trigger, one of the advantages of the rear grip is the fact that you can put aftermarket triggers on it.

This is all great information. Thanks to all. I still haven't done the deed. I guess I'm hoping someone else will beat me to it and take away the temptation. Normally it would be a no brainer but with my only daughter getting married in October the timing couldn't be worse. If any of you have young daughters my advice is to start saving now.
