S&W M10

The Model 10 is an excellent choice.  Police trade-ins are usually well maintained revolvers.  The Modle 10 is also an excellent choice for your bride to be.  I like the heavier bull barrel but the tapered barrel will also do ya just fine.

If you get one and want it checked or 'gone over' to make sure it is a solid and reliable piece, my suggestion is to send it to S&W who will assure that everything is as it should be (they will replace worn parts) and return it to you in 'ready to go' condition.  HTH.  Mikey.

I own several model 10s, one bull barrel is a favorite.  A former local cop and amature gunsmith mounted a rib on it and installed a set of sights simular to those on a model 41.  This is a tack driver, great target gun, but no longer what I would consider a carry gun.  I also have an old pencil barrel model 10 that my father carried for 40-50 years.  It has little blueing left, but still functions flawlessly. I have thought about sending it back to S&W for a total overhaul.

It is not a bad choice in a firearm.
