.375 Ruger
« on: July 26, 2006, 08:33:52 AM »
Yesterday, I was watching a hunt on TV starring Craig Boddington and Steve Hornady. Steve introduced the ".375 Ruger", a standard length action .375 with ballistics equal to the H&H. I hear he's also going to start making the .450-.400 ammo, too.

Anyone know anything about the Ruger? They're keeping mum.

from Guns & Ammo:
New for 2007, Hornady Ammunition's .375 Ruger.
The .375 Ruger features a standard magnum bolt face, is reported as being the smoothest feeding magnum to date and will be available in 270-gr. SP, 300-gr. IB and 300-gr. FMJ.
"This cartridge is very exciting," said Holt, "it has a 30-06 length case, but its not a 30-06 case. You're getting more performance out of a 20-inch barrel with .375 Ruger than what you'd get with a .375 H&H out of a 24-inch barrel."

I was hoping that with winchester not manufacturing the model 70 anymore that ruger might put the .375 H&H in there all weather rifle as the only 375H&H they have is in there magnum rifle , but  guess i can forget about that happening if this 375 ruger comes about.

The .375 H&H won't fit in the standard-length Ruger action, nor will the RUM.  I have been hoping for some time that Ruger would come out with the Dakota chamberings, but this might be even better.
