I just got back from the First Colorado Independent Battery shoot held at the NRA Whittington Center, at Raton NM. We had a great time there and the scenery was spectacular! The only thing that was a bummer was some of the members with cannons couldn't make the event, I couldn't take my Coehorn Mortar because we are making the base heavier to be able to handle the loads to shoot 600 + yds. with a 16lb ball.
Rifled cannons had to shoot 400 and 900yds. Smoothbore cannons shot 200 & 400 yds. this was a 2 day event.
Winner for the rifle cannon was close only 2 points separated first & second places.
