Looks like Vermont farmers are in for a fight as the state demands more control.

Not Good! It is unfortunate that many in the Northeast love to be regulated & become a Socialist State & more of this will come to roost. Of course all Americans will suffer from this mental disorder
in time.

I see where the IRS would like this too!

I'd say the government already has a list of where and who all farmers are.  All they need to do is consult their own subsidy payment records.

What ever happened to liberty?
With complete liberty corn would be trading at .95$ a bushel and beans would be at $2.00.  Non-recourse loans, low interest loans, tax credits, fuel tax elimination...  Lots of liberty in those programs.

Don't get me wrong, both my grandfathers and my father own farm land in Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois.  I support farmers, and some government programs like the CRP and WRP programs have been wonderful for hunters and wildlife.  But if you're complaining about the goverment asking you to register for an emergency I can only assume you're not interested in all these "big brother" handouts.

The problem with "handouts" is the rest of the world subsidises there farmers.......I read an article earlier this week that the WTO couldn't agree to end subsidies so things remain status quo......

Honestly, I'm not sure what to make of the situation in Vermont......not my business......but the people of Vermont need to think long and hard........

That sums it up for me.

Have there been any fatal cases of a virus that has been conclusively proven to have migrated from fowl to human? How about in North America? This is a socialist bogeyman. No surprises here, though, because if you are a worshiping member of the Church of Socialism, you believe that man (specifically, that 'other guy' you don't like) is directly responsible for every natural act on the face of this planet. I don't deny the existence or the danger of the flu and its mutations, but I find it extremely naive of people to believe that we can be totally prepared. It's a Maginot Line. You will never see the CDC, or any other agency pressuring registration/confiscation on the "urban farmers" in California's cities, who are growing food and raising livestock that is neither registered, checked by customs, or tested for disease. But in the hadith of The Church of Socialism, the chosen people are eternally innocent, and their character unassailable.

Is there any indication of what problem this is supposed to solve? Spread of livestock epidemics are pretty well understood and when there are problems, word gets around pretty quickly. I don't see how this registration plan would beneficially alter the pattern of the spread of any diseases.
