I feed it both factory and hand loads . It likes the 168 gr. bullets and is not fussy about powder. Shoots most loads better than 3" at 100 yds.  I like my 7600 . Great gun.

I have a Rem. 7600 "plastic" stock in 308 and I really like it.  While I have not tried anything but 150 gr. bullets it shoots them well.  Factory Remington 150 gr. shoot 1.5 and my handloads group 1 inch at 100 yds. consistently.  I going to try lighter bullets when I get the chance.

Reloads mainly because that is all I ever hunted and shot targets with.

Back in the day, if you wanted performance and accuracy you loaded your own.

Now with all the technology available, you do not have to load your own.

But since I made a large investment in presses and die's and powder and bullets and primers and scales and tumblers and all the other equipment associated it would be crazy for me to go out and buy a box of factory loads every year at $25 a box for Premium ammo for a 30 / 06 or 270..

I load 46gr of H4350,  140gr Rem Core-Lokts,   Fed LR match primers, using Remington 7-08 brass. The load shoots so close to the same zero using Remington 140gr Core-Lokt factory ammo I haven't tried anything else. If I lose or forget my reloads, a trip to Wally World will fix it.  I loaded 54.5gr of IMR 4350, 165gr Core-Lokts, Win.  primers, using Rem. brass for the 30-06 I had.

I shoot factory stuff in my 7600 270...  I shot Federal Premium 150gr. Partitions for a Maine moose in September.  I've been shooting Premium 140gr. Accubonds for a few years for deer, but will probably be switching to 130gr. Partitions.  At the range, I make sure I'm zeroed with a couple shots of my good stuff, then pound away with 130gr. Core Lokts from WallyWorld.

I tried a box of 140 Grn Fusions in my 7600 7mm-08 last week.  The absolute best I could do was 1 1/2" @ 100 Yds.  Now I know where the 7600 got it's 1 1/2" group reputation.....Factory Ammo!

This was the first factory ammo I've tried in my 7600....... and it will be the last.  It's back to handloads for me.  Here the best handload group Ive shot with this gun with 154 Grn Hdy Round Nose on top of H414.  The rifle averaged about .75" overall with the 154 RN loads.

Dark lines are 1/2" squares, lighter lines are 1/4" squares

Like I said....no more factory loads for me!

All I ever use in any rifle are hand loads. The first shoot I ever had at a deer was back in the 60's. It was blown because the primer was bad. We even tried it in 3 other rifles.

I've never bought any commercial ammo since. If I'm going to have a problem with ammo, I'd prefer to screw it up myself. Especially if I'm shooting at a bad tempered hog.

My .30-06 7600 likes Winchester Balisitic Silvertips.  The deer don't like them very much.  :D
Ruger 10/22, Ruger GP100 .357, Marlin 336 .35 Rem, NEF Handi Rifle .223, Remington 7600 .30-06, Browning BPS 12 ga, Remington 870 12 ga, Iver Johnson Champion 16 ga.

I've tried many bullets for this .243 in past 33 years.  Sierra has produced consistant accurasy. But I've been very impressed by 95 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip since it was introduced. A very good weight for accurasy, kill power, and velocity.

My .308 still shoots very well with Sierra 165 grain Pro Hunter.

MY 7615P likes any .223 or 5.56 ammo I feed it. But it has a special affinity for Sierra's 69grn BTHP over a charge of VARGET, I easily get 2" 100yd groups with iron sights.

My 760 '06 shoots Rem. 180 grn. SP & PSP Core-Lokts great.
My 760 .300 Sav, is more finiky, it shoots Fed. 150 / 180 SP's very good, but it doesn't like any Rem ammo.

Going to try 150 PSP Core-Lokts in my '06 soon, if they shoot well, I'll go with them for deer this season.

I  got a syn. stocked 7600 in 35 rem. and had it rechamberd to 358 win.. It really likes the sierra 225gr. gameking pushed with 47.3 gr. of H335. Three shot groups will  average  1 1/4 inch. I am very happy with that from a pump gun.
