shotgun classes?
« on: July 31, 2006, 10:19:12 AM »
I don't know much about shotgunning or shotguns in particular, other than the basics. I was talking with a friend of mine about skeet shooting (we're both new to this stuff) and he was asked a question by one of his associates who knows quite a bit. My friend had seen an o/u that he particularly liked and was discussing this with a friend. Said friend asked "what country was it made in, and what class was it?"

I know that the country of manufacture is often a selling point, especially on higher end guns, but what does class refer to? Level of workmanship? What shooting sport it was designed for?
You only take one shot at a time, so don't waste it :cb2:

Beats me what he meant by class from the little bit of context provided.  There is Grade to describe the level of embellishments; there is (in the case of Citori shotguns) type to describe design changes over the years.  Perhaps he was referring to whether a shotgun was primarity for Trap, Skeet, or Sporting Clays?
