Me and my hunting buddy went to roost a bird last night, unfortuantley as soon as we got to our hunting spot, some nasty thunderstorms hit, we didn't hear anything. This morning it was still raining. We hunted around some fields til about 8:00, then decided to move. After moving about 300 yards he called, and one gobbled, quite aways off. We moved another 150 yards, he called again, he gobbled, this time closer. We moved about another 100 yards, he called, this time when he gobbled, he was close! I'm talking make your hair stand up close! We sat down, and within 30 seconds here comes three longbeards. They were racing each other to see who could be the first to get to "the hen." They got about 40 yards out and stopped, I told him I was on the first one, he said he had the second one. "One, two, three, BOOM!!!" We both shot at the exact same time, and we both filled our first tag of the VA season. We've hunted together for almost 20 years, but today was by far the best hunt we've ever had. I'm so pumped, I had to share. Good luck to everyone.
