Mossberg 500 bolt finish

Does anyone have a "fix" for my problem? I picked up a Mossberg 500 Bantom 20ga. pump for my Grandson and the bolt and ejector are chrome plated/shiney.  He's going to be using it for turkey and deerslug, so he will want to camo the gun.  Is there a relatively easy way to dull the finish down on the bolt and ejector or blacken them to kill the shine?  I've tried using a permenant black marker, but it looks lousy.  Would blackening it with candle soot work for the day?  Thanks!

Took a trip to Dick's Sporting today and picked up a couple rolls of H.S. Camo NO-MAR Cloth Tape @ $3.95 per roll to cover the Mossberg stock and barrel/receiver.  If I say so myself, it came out quite well (I kinda like the camo look better then the blued steel and light stocks.)  I guess the tape should come off at the end of the season, but Grandson Mike can make that decision.  I might just wrap my 12 ga. Ithaca Deerslayer now!

He'll wipe the soot off. You can try taping a flap of dark paper over the port. That'll allow ejection but will cover the shine.
