Cannon Hardware

Hey there guys,

While getting all the materials to turn this carriage into a reality, I stumbled upon something I really wasnt expecting to be a problem... The cannon hardware?

I guess I never thought ahead enough to see it coming... I have all the equipment needed to make anything out of wood, but metal is a stranger to me.

For those of you who have made your own carriages for yout tubes, did you make all the hardware yourself? Trunnion caps, trunnion plates, and all the associated bolts for clamping and whatnot are the things I'm most interested in...



I'm currently looking for someplace to make them for me from plans, online or elsewhere...

Any tips/suggestions?

 DoktorD,

 The picture you show is of a somewhat complex and original style assembly. You might want to go with something more simple. I think most here do.

 See the post down below titled "bending trunnion straps" for some ideas. You might find it it interesting to try making your own. Don't convince yourself that you can't do it; if you have the skill to make the wood, you can probably make the metal parts too if you keep them simple.

 If you have the parts made by someone else, you may want to have them in-hand before you do the woodwork so you can fit them to your carriage.
