Hawkeye worth
« on: May 01, 2006, 03:12:12 PM »
I know nothing about these other than they use a cylinder like block that rotates to the side for loading a .256 Win cartridge.  Spotted one in a gun shop this weekend with what looks to be an old small diameter Bushnell scope mounted to the barrel.   The mount was somewhat block shaped.  Where these drilled and tapped at the factory?  What are they worth?
Any information would be helpful.  Thank you.

IMHO they are worth much less than many people seem willing to pay.
There were a couple on the Ruger forum not too long ago

What I meant to say is they are worthless and the best thing you could do is send it to me. I would be willing to pay the freight. Everything you read about the Hawkeye being very Desireable to collectors is untrue. I was given a chance to shoot one about 20 years ago, it took the owner about 1 1/2 hours to pry my fingers off the grips and get it back

Wow, it seems I am becoming an old and bitter man
