I received this a week ago, and promptly ignored it.  I think its something that came out of Standard Oils PR dept.  Notice that the two companies they want us to boycott are Canadian and Dutch owned - not a US company to be found.
Hunting is Exciting!  Bolt actions are BORING!!
Don't mix the two!

Saw the same crap the other day...only it was Exxon and Mobile mentioned.  It's just another form of chain mail.  Chances are it's some junk mail distributor fishing for valid email addresses.
The problem with troubleshooting is....sometimes it shoots back!

The only thing you can do about rising gasoline costs is drive less; drive more fuel efficient vehicles; use public transit more.

I am no happier then anyone else, when I fuel up my vehicle, but perhaps my position in the Oil & Gas industry gives me a better understanding then the average consumer and I have done a little research on the subject.

I am sorry but when I see threads about the price of gasoline, fuel gas or heating oil and how the prices are outrageous it always makes me laugh!

There is no conspiracy by the big oil companies! Have you ever heard about Peak Oil? Have you listened to research by people like Henry Groppe? It costs enormous amounts of money to find sources of energy and not just any reservoir can be produced. There are immense costs involved to develope and produce an oil or gas field.

The worlds energy supplies are dropping at the same time as consumption is increasing. The result is ever increasing pressure on the supply/demand equation.

Why else do you think the big Oil & Gas companies are increasingly expanding their exploration into deep water off-shore basins and such? All the easily exploitable, "cheap" oil and gas has already been found and identified. Believe me the problem will only get worse and worse over time. This is also why all countries are expanding nuclear programs and developement of reactors for energy production.

Do yourself a favor and do some research on the subject of Peak Oil, but be prepared to be angry, frustrated and maybe even a bit depressed. It is not a pretty piture. The future is going to be extremely nasty as the worlds Super-Powers collide over dwindling energy reserves.
Look at the situation that is developing in the Middle East; USA vs China; Russia; Iran etc... Venezuala nationalizing their energy etc... the USA invading Iraq to "free" the Iraqis.

The USA invaded Iraq to secure the OIL RESERVES of Iraq and to establish a military presence their to respond to unstable situations in Saudi Arabia; Iran; Kuwait etc...
Do a little research on USA strategic military planning etc...
The invasion of Iran is imminent. It will be done to prevent "nuclear proliferation" or something like that. An interesting thing is that all of the major Iranian oil fields lie just across the Iran/Iraq border. The siezure of those fields is actually pretty simple from a military standpoint, plus the guy (Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) in Iran really is a nut-bar!!

Getting back to energy costs, a HUGE IMPACT that Peak Oil and rising energy costs will have is on food production and prices. You already are seeing it today and believe me it will only get worse. Look at what milk costs!! Here in Alberta gasoline is $1.06/L, 2% milk is $0.93/L. Almost as much as gasoline!! Well price that per barrel and you will find out that bloody table milk is far more expensive then crude oil!!
You still drink milk right?

Energy costs are going to cause an increase in the price of food production over the next centruy that will lead to mass starvation(s) of the worlds under-developed nations, wars etc...

NOW BEFORE ANYONE GOES OFF HALF-COCKED AND ACCUSES ME OF BEING A LEFT-LEANING LIBERAL OR SUCH, I AM ANYTHING BUT!!

I DESPISE THE LEFT-WING LIBERAL ESTABLISHMENT!!

Like I said, do a little research into this stuff and base responses on that before you fire off...

Cheers! Jim.

There is some truth to what you say, but the oil companies are taking huge record profits. The price always jumps just before a long weekend. That is price gouging! We need and I think we will see alterative energy taking over, but the oil companies will take all the profits they can before they fall.

sorry jim, but I feel peak oil is a myth. they have been predictiong peak oil since the 70's, and we still keep finding massive reserves all over the world. If you want to do some research on the myth of peak oil, pick up a book by Dr. jerome Corsi entitled  " Black Gold, Stranglehold  " I found it very hard to disagree with him after reading this book. Not saying that I'm right or wrong, but you should research both sides of the argument.
