Rem. 141 for hogs?

Just picked up two Rem. 141 pumps in .35 Rem.  Stole them for $400.00 the pair.  Reason - they both have ugly holes in the receiver sides where a scope mount was once mounted.  Good news is that both have seen very little use and one has a receiver mounted (side) all steel adj. peep site.  Thinking of putting them to use on piggies.  Anyone out there worked with these rifles and handloads?  How strong are these actions? Any suggestions of a stiff cast bullet pig load?

I had one also in 35 Rem and  was a great shooter. I always stuck  with Remington 200 gr factory loads.  I  would avoid  the 150 gr bulets  as  thes  are  not the  best  choice  for  hogs, they are on the frangible side.  I once thought about using the Lyman 220 gr cast bullets   the  35  is one of my  favorites also

They are fine old guns BUT they are OLD guns and may not have the margin of error needed for hot loading. I think you'd do well to stick to factory duplication level loads. No more is needed. The .35 Rem. doesn't depend on high velocity and you're not gonna add enough to matter. Also cast bullets don't depend on high velocity so just stick to factory level loads and you'll do fine.

Personally I never use anything but 200 grain RN bullets in my .35 Remingtons.

They are fine guns, I too have a 141 in .35 Rem.. Mine sports a Lyman peep, they use the same unit as the Winchester 94 which makes finding them pretty easy, bought mine used at gunshow.

In cast bullets I can recommend the RCBS 200 grainer. It's big meplat is a killer. Use the same data you would for jacketed-pick your powder and load. I just recently shot a 150 pound hog with this bullet and got full side to side penetration. He didn't go very far. The Remington 200 gr Core-Lokt bought in bulk is a fine bullet as well.

I suspect these guns won't stand much "hotrodding". They lockup with one lug on the top of the bolt. Now a 760 is a whole 'nother animal with it's 9 lugs.

Thanks for the imput guys, going to a gun show this week end so will attempt to pick up some reloadable brass.  I have shot the guns with factory loads and both shoot well, but need more brass than I got from the two boxes of factory stuff I purchased.  If none at the show, will try Midway bulk brass.  Need to purchase a 35 mould as well, anybody have an R.C.B.S. for sale?
