It's still purple, just crappy lighting and pictures. That's my fault I took the pics in my kitchen under 60 watt incandesent bulbs instead of outside. I still need to finish sand and add a couple more coats. I need to refinish the barrel and paint the rest of the metal before I assemble and terrorize the local national forest with golfballs.

Personally I would also go with the black hardware., this project looks fantastic I cant wait to see it with all the parts on it. That Purple Heart and black looks great together ., The polyurethane livened things up for sure.

This is really looking great. But a word of caution to all, Purpleheart dust can cause some problems.
Purpleheart: sensitizer/eye & skin, nausea/small/dust, wood/rare
