For hunting I prefer the roof prism binoculars, and would venture a guess that so does a vast majority of hunters. They are usually more compact and ergonomic than porros. They are more rugged than and easier to waterproof than porros and now that just about all optics companies have a pretty good idea on how to make them, the view they provide is almost as good as that of equally priced porros. Certainly the resolution and color reproduction of roofs are now on par with porros, yet depth of field or the 3D aspect of the view is still superior in a porro. Bottom line, you can get a better view for the same price with a porro, but spend a little more and you will get about an equal view in a much more rugged and compact glass.
