my favorite knife is the kershaw echo....its a fixed blade knife with a bit of a curve in the blade. i like this knife so much i have 2. one with a black hand and one in camo. the only problem i have with my knife is that it get way to sharp, they slice right through my sheathes. i guess thats an ok price to pay for a great skinner. the curve in blade holds nicely on flesh when skinning game. are there any other kershaw fans.

Never used a Kershaw for some reason, but folks seem to like them.  Doesn't matter how sharp a knife is, it shouldn't cut through the sheath.  I make knives that are a hell of a lot sharper than Kershaws and it's never happened with one of my sheaths.  Sounds like a junk sheath to begin with; which isn't all that unusual with factory knives.  Marble's is famous for it.

Was it the nylon sheath or a leather sheath?  I've seen models offered with both types of sheaths.

well actually i have a leather sheath for one of them and a nylon sheath for the other and it has cut through both of them....the leather one cut through the thread and the nylon one is just cut all the way through. its all good though as long as i buy two more sheaths before hunting season and i have awhile untill then....unfortunately.

My favorite knife of all time is the Kershaw 1050.

My #2 favorite is the same knife in the fixed model, the Deer Hunter 1030.

I have a Kershaw LFK.  It's a nice inexpensive little folder. It has one of the sharpest factory edges that I have seen. I guess the thing that I like about it the most is that it is almost flat and It carrys well in my pocket....Jim

I have 2 echos also, the camoed ones, yes I have cut the sheath also.they are very sharp ( I made them sharper after the purchase.)I just have to be carefull when putting the knife back in it's sheath. My son shot a very nice oryx last week.We took it to the taxidermist.and they made a film on how to skin an animal for mouting.(all I did was gut it in the field and went quick to the taxidermist home and they were waiting to skin and film the event.any how he and his wife us big scapels and as he tried to cut a big chunk of meat and tendon he was having a hard time.I told my son to let fred use his knife(he has one also)soon as he started cutting the area where his scapel was having trouble.he looked into the camera and said see how well things go when you have the right tools for the job.the blade on the echo is shaped almost, if not exactly like the scalpels he and his wife were using.he continued to finish the animal with the echo and never stopped to touch up the blade as it stayed sharp.
then at the end(there was at least a dozen folks there)he said it was the most impressive knife he has ever used and instructed his wife to buy some.
my huntin rifle is safe from confiscation only while my battle rifle protects it.

I have at least a dozen Kershaw knives. They have been very good knives for me. They come sharp from the factory and hold an edge well and a few licks through the Edge Maker sharpeners and they are ready for action again. Very improved product which is unusual these days. Never had a problem with them cutting the sheath. I make new sheaths for most of my knives anyway.
shot placement is everything.

I have a Kershaw wirilwind, a folding self-opener designed by Ken Onion. It's with me all the time, and does everything I've asked of it. It was quite sharp when I got it but I've made it sharper since. It holds an edge like no other knife I've ever owner. A few licks on a crock stick from time to time and it's ready for anything. If God forgive I loose it I'll order another one the same day. It's been so good I wouldn't bother to look at any other ones. I have a drawer with about 15 or so pocket knives including Benchmade, Buck, Gerber, Remington, and Case knives, that I don't even look at anymore. I found my favorite.
