What type of barrel do I have?
« on: August 23, 2006, 09:53:29 PM »
I have just purchesd a new 1894 marlin in 44 mag. looking at the barrel for the first time, it seems the rifleing is shallow. My 1895 (circa 1972) has much more pronounced rifleing.
I'm going to shoot cast bullets so I want the Ballard barrel.
Are these rifles still micro-grooved?
                                                            Thanks!

If it's a micro-groove barrel it should be stamped on the side of the barrel right before the caliber!

You can use cast bullets in a micro-groove barrel!
