Can someone explain the difference in a 22 hornet and a 22k hornet.

Brass lasts longer and there's a bit of gain in velocity.

Ok to be honest I had no idea until I bought a 10 hornet barrel for my Contender, fired the first shot and pulled out a Khornet case.  Like quicks pics show a hornet is kind of like a 30-30 case while a khornet is more like a modern high power case.

I did get a chrony this past November and it has opened my eye's, some good, some not sot good.  One of my biggest surprises was that the Hornady manual listed 13.6 grains of lil'gun with a 40 grain bullet will give you 2,400 fps out of a 10" barrel shot out of a Hornet contender.  I admit I have had to try it a few times, check loads, try again but my contender with a  10" Khornet barrel is averaging 2,735fps with 13 grains of lil'gun.  Now I was told that the KHornet burned better and I knew how accurate it was but I was shocked at the increase in velocity.

It seems the khornet also has an advantage with a heavier bullets(driving a 50 @ the same speed as the 40 in the regular) but it is hard to guage since most manual do not show anything bigger than 45 for the regular hornet. and most of the data I have seen has been 24" for the hornet and 15 or less for the k-hornet. The conversion will be an option for me once mine comes home, especially since it seems it would be an easy conversion. I'd take it just for case life from what it seems.

One question can loading dies be converted with the same reamer ? Or do I have to buy another set.

The 'Lyle Kilbourne' or K-Hornet also is supposed to experience less case-stretching (because of the new shoulder it head-spaces from, rather than the rim) and is less finicky to find loads for - or so i've heard. 

I'm eye-balling the K-Hornet for my Handi-Rifle and that is the version I'll settle on.

For those same reasons, if I was shooting the .218 Bee, I'd go with the 'Mashburn' version of the Bee - which also has a more pronounced shoulder and is less prone to case stretching and incipient head-separation (not unlike the regular Hornet).
