Lets talk about cleaning rods!
« on: April 10, 2003, 06:10:09 AM »
I am ashamed to say that I am using the same coated Dewey rods on my Contenders and Encores, that I use on my rifles. Using a 30" one piece cleaning rod on a Contender is a pain in the as$.

What are you guys using, and does anyone make quality short  coated rods for Contenders and Encores?

Ditto the 17" Dewey.  Don't forget your bore guide too to protect your chamber and throat.

I used to be a big Dewey fan, but have since reconsidered and now only use uncoated stainless steel. Enough benchrest guys finally convinced me that the nylon coated rods can pick up dirt and embed it, thus making a lap out of your rod. Now I just wipe them down between passes and always use a bore guide.
