Food plot for deer

Just got done tilling up an old garden and was thinking of putting a cover crop in for winter.Someone told me that buckwheat would be good and that deer really like it.So thought I would give it a try,and maybe even put in a food plot just for deer and wildlife.Anyone do this?

Austrian Winter Peas!  You can till it in late Spring but it will stay green and grow until then.  Good nutriant for the soil and the deer love it.

Not to derail your thread dw, but check out www.qdma.com.  Hunting plots are somewhat dependent on your location, soils, amount of time and money you want to put into it, and a host of other considerations.  The folks at QDMA are talking food plots every hour of every day for the express purpose of growing quality deer.
