Eotec sight
« on: June 07, 2006, 02:07:37 AM »
I'm going to try something new for Hunter Pistol this time. I borrowed an Eotec sight to see what that does on my Contender .22 hornet. I'd tried red dot sights before, and while I like the dots the parallax got to me. This sight doesn't have any noticable parallax, and eye relief is a non issue. Looks like it should work well, I guess we'll see when I can get to the range to try it. Anybody else here try one of these? What did you think of it? I guess the only problem is going to be if I like it I'll have to buy one and they don't exactly give them away.

Well, the Eotech is working out great! It's set up on a 10 inch Contender, .22 Hornet. I set it up for a comfortable amount of cant, so the gun is about 30 degrees off vertical. Since the hornet doesn't need any zero changes from 40 to 100M, it works this way. My scores are going up, and the eyestrain and worrying about parallax is history. I can shoot with both eyes open, and if I can see the dot in the window I know that's where the bullet will hit. If you get a chance to try one of these, do it. They're great!

I'm not familiar with Eotec sight, how does it compare with Millet?  Price, etc.

Never mind, I looked it up in Midway catalogue.  Dang, I can't justify paying more for a sight than the gun.

I've got one of those Russian Army holo sights on my FAL and it has a built-in Weaver type mount with a cammed lever that allows instant removal and re-mount with no change in the zero.   I got it from an outfit called Kalinka Optics and it is called a Kobra.  Has four different reticles and a wide range of reticle brightness.   Uses watch-type batteries.

I've been thinking of using it on my Contenders but have not gotten around to it.  You've lit my fire.   :-)
