T/C Encore

What would be a good price for a T/C Encore 209x50 in stainless, with thumbhole laminate stuck?  Does barrel length matter? 26" or 28"?

Just looking to pick up a new muzzle loader to replace my old FireHawk and be a little easier to clean.  With the capability to switch barrels and forearm to make a rifle or pistol, and being made in America, Encore seems to be the right choice.  But at what price?  Over or below $600?

You should be able to get yourself an Encore 209x50(not the Prohunter) under $500. When I started my addiction to Encores a few years back I bought my frame with stock and forend for under $250(blued and brand new) then I bought a 209x50 barrel from Eabco.com for under $225(also blued and brand new). From there my addiction grew and need to buy something Encore related quite often!!!

Has anyone tried the ProHunter?  What are the advantages over a regular Encore?  Is 28" barrel worth it in terms of velocity and accuracy?  Also, any info on the 209x45 supper magnum in comparison to 209x50?

My Encore has a 26" barrel, my Omega a 28" barrel, I don't notice much difference. I use 3 777 pellets or 120 grains of FFG American Pioneer, 348 grain Powerbelts. Going to try the new Platinum 338 grain Powerbelts this year..........

My gun set me back $700.00  The synthetic stock, stainless about $600.  Synthetic stock, blued steel $550.  These are Ohio prices.

paid just under 700 for mine, pro hunter is going for 729, in the chicagoland area. I like the fibre optic sights, don't know if Im going to scope it or not, also did the 25 acp conversion.

Is the Pro-Hunter worth the extra?  Trying to make a decision between the Encore with laminate thumbhole stock or the ProHunter with composite hardwoods stock, both in stainless.

I would have to say yes the Pro-Hunter is worth it, I have a standard thumb hole stock Encore and the Pro-hunter, both 50 Cal M/L's and I will take the Pro-Hunter over the Standard Encore any day. Although I still will keep both.  ;D

Would would you say the primary advantages are?  Besides the FlexTech stock.  Any increased performance in down range accuracy?

I like the quick removing breech plug, the swing hammer, and the longer barrel. As far as accuracy, both of my Encores are tack drivers. But I go shoot my Pro-hunter at 200 yards with better accuracy. But I attribute that to the scope and powder charge and sabot selection. Also the over all appearance of the Pro-hunter is appealing to me.

Laminate Thumbhole..... but shoulder it a few times first. I almost purchased a thumbhole a few weeks ago online -- now I'm glad I didn't. Last week I shouldered one for the first time. I just could not get comfortable with it. Fat & skinny in all the wrong places for me.  I was disappointed in the end - because I really like the way they look - also like the variety of colored stocks being offered. :)
