UNSOLICITED EMAIL THROUGH GRAYBEARD
« on: April 01, 2003, 02:28:56 AM »
I have received an email that appears to be from an individual trying to sell endangered and non-endangered animal parts through Graybeard.
I have also received an email from another forum member who has received the same email.

I would like to caution everyone that what is proposed in the email is not only against the Graybeard spamming rules, but also may be VERY MUCH AGAINST FEDERAL LAWS governing the sale of endangered species.

It appears from a cursory investigation, that this email is coming from Singapore China.   I will be contacting GB and see if we can get this stopped.  If any of you receive the email, I would sure like to know about it.

Last night when I got it I thought maybe I was the only one as the forum owner. Wrong! Looks like everyone got it. Even Mrs. GB and Matt. I have locked his priviledges to use the site under that name. If he registers again and tries it again we'll ban him. Being from Singapore we should be able to ban him OK without it affecting many other potential users of the site.

I received the same copy thru email too. It seems he is using the "member list" from many outdoor forums as a mailing list and spamming all of them. Might this not be a case for the FCC or Feds since it violates a few federal laws on selling animal parts and/or endangered species parts?
