"Do-it" cannon ball fishing sinker size chart
« on: August 28, 2006, 07:18:26 AM »
Here is a link to the Do-it brand "Cannon Ball" style fishing sinker catalog page.

http://www.do-itmolds.com/pdfs/c_SinkerMolds_34-41.pdf

Below the listing for the cannon ball sinlers in the catalog is a weight and diameter chart for picking the right size ball for your particular caliber. I am mentioning this because of several postings recently looking for possible sources for low cost projectiles for various size barrels.

The moulds are a fairly cheap, fairly round, fairly low cost way to get started making cannon balls. You will have to break off this little round circular piece of flashing made for a wire insert, but it is very easy to remove.

Depends on the exact diameter of your bore.  If it is 1.000", I would use the 3 oz.  If it is 1 1/16", I would use the 4 oz although it might need a little extra cleaning between shots.

If my credit card wasn't getting a bit scarey from buying too many toys latey, I would be pouring 3 ounce balls for my 1 inch mortar right now.

For what it's worth, the CB-4-AB mold comes with 4 different cavities... 1, 2, 3, and 4 ounces. Retail price is $ 37
