Dove Hunting

Today is opening day for dove here in Tennessee. Seems the past few years the numbers of birds are droping. How is the hunting in your area?

Southern California is getting better and better. Lots of fields planted for them as well as fields on ranches south of the border. The numbers are way up, all the rain we have gotten the last few years helped too. I got a limit of mostly whitewings in 2 hours on opening day. After the opener it is usually all mourning doves for the rest of the seeaon, but I have gotten limits on both the last day of our first season and the last day of the second season. It is not wide open like the opener, but still plenty of birds.

I am moving to Tennessee, leaving with my trailer tommorow. Where do you hunt doves out there? We have a friend with a bunch of acerage that says he does really good on his property.

Good hunting,
Brian

I killed 4 limits in the first 5 days of the season (had a wedding on Sunday) between kansas and missouri.  The numbers seem to be up from last year but a couple of my places had below average sunflower crops.  In the long run I suspect this season will be below average for me.

I personally haven't had a chance to go yet, but lots of customers report the birds are flying pretty good around SE Tennessee dove fields.....

Hope to get in a hunt next week.....
