I recently picked up a SS Prohunter with a 270 Win barrel. Its a fine shooter, just under/over an inch at 100yds. I really like the TC system, so now I would like to pick up a 7 mm barrel. I like a 7x57 Mauser a lot and the Ackley version is about as good as it can get. How does it stack up against the 7.08 Rem. I expect to shoot 150 gr bullets and the Ackley book I have shows theMauser improved around 3300 to almost 3400 fps with a mid to high load. Can the 7.08 match the velocity with a 150 gr bullet. The Ackley uses standard cases fire formed in the chamber for brass, so cases and ammo are not a problem and MGM lists the chamber. What do the experts have to say?
